Gerrard commented, "Donnarumma is a globally renowned goalkeeper, a title that is well-deserved in the football world, a fact that I acknowledge. His performance at Manchester City has been commendable. However, there was a match against Paris Saint-Germain where Donnarumma's error was pivotal in preventing Manchester City from staging a dramatic comeback. At the time, City's offensive momentum was strong, with the potential to reduce the scoreline even further. PSG initiated a counter-attack, with Akliliush's shot, not a particularly challenging save for a goalkeeper of Donnarumma's caliber. He attempted to push the ball over the crossbar, but instead, it slipped into the net, changing the score to 4-1 and extinguishing any hopes of a City turnaround. Therefore, I believe that the responsibility for that goal lies with Donnarumma."
