The FIFPRO World 11, a prestigious accolade honoring the top male and female footballers as chosen by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) Players' Union, was initially known as the FIFPRO World 11. This honor, which commenced in 2005, was designed to recognize the finest footballers as selected through peer voting. In 2009, a collaborative effort between FIFPRO and FIFA led to a name change, resulting in the "FIFA FIFPRO World 11," or the FIFA Annual Best Team, while maintaining the same voting process. Effective from 2024, FIFPRO will independently manage the award, reverting to its original title, the FIFPRO World 11.
The FIFPRO Team of the Year is an exclusive global accolade, meticulously chosen by professional footballers from across the globe. This prestigious honor stands as the sole worldwide award in football that is exclusively determined by the players themselves. The criteria for evaluating the players' performances are based on a specific timeframe, spanning from August 4, 2025, to July 19, 2026. To be eligible, a player must have participated in at least 30 official matches during this designated period.
The final lineup of 11 players will consist of 1 goalkeeper, 3 defenders, 3 midfielders, 3 forwards, with the remaining spot going to the non-goalkeeper player who has received the most votes.
