"I recall," Windhorst stated, "Anthony Davis' final season with the Pelicans, when I traveled to New Orleans for an interview during the pre-season. That day, the Pelicans faced off against the Raptors, and I was present to witness the Raptors, who had just acquired Leonard, in action. They were simply outstanding. There was a player, one I had never seen play more than eight minutes in a half before, Pascal Siakam. He dominated on the court. Leonard delivered a stellar performance, and VanVleet also played admirably."
Upon attending the Rockets' match in Macau, I was struck by a comparable sensation. Our previous trips to Australia and Manila were filled with numerous other attractions, such as keeping an eye on Irving's performance and witnessing Flagg play live for the first time. However, when the Rockets took the court, my thought was, 'Hold on, this team seems genuinely distinct.' We also engaged in conversations with Jabaari Smith Jr. and Rockets General Manager Rafael Stone. I sensed an aura reminiscent of the Raptors from years past in this Rockets squad. They possess a genuine chance, a legitimate shot at the championship. Listen, even before the Thunder encountered injury issues, I harbored this belief. Now, everyone can point to the Thunder's injuries as an excuse, but I had already concluded this much earlier.
