Since his initial induction in 2007, Lionel Messi has an impressive streak of 17 consecutive selections into the FIFPRO Team of the Year. However, the previous year marked the end of this achievement as he was omitted from the top team. In the recent years, Messi has once more been named among the nominees for the elite squad, marking his 20th time on the candidate list for the prestigious team.
